Political relations

Political relations are very good, without any open issues. The two countries maintain regular political dialogue. Excellent political relations are confirmed by the numerous visits of the highest representatives of Slovenia to Poland, which have intensified significantly in the recent years. The countries also cooperate within the regional initiatives (Regional Partnership, Central European Initiative and the Salzburg Forum).

  • 19 – 22 November 2013, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment State Secretary Andreja Jerina participated at the UN Climate Conference COP19/CMP9 in Warsaw
  • 16 – 17 July – working visit of MFA Karl Erjavec to Poland
  • 23 – 24 April 2013 – Minister of Interior and Public Administration dr. Gregor Virant participated at the Ministerial Conference of Salzburg Forum in Warsaw
  • 26 – 27 November 2012 – official visit of the Minster of Defence Aleš Hojs to Poland
  • 26 April 2012 – Prime Minister Janez Janša attended China – CEE Leaders meeting in Warsaw
  • 11 – 12 October 2011 – Minister of Environment dr. Roko Žarnić attended the Ministerial Conference "Sharing Green Economy Best Practices towards Rio+20" in Warsaw
  • 29 -30 September 2011 – participation of the Prime Minister Borut Pahor at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Warsaw

  • 29 – 30 August 2010 – visit of the Minister of Agriculture Dejan Židan to Poland
  • 24 May 2010 – MFA State Secretary Dragoljuba Benčina participated at the informal Eastern Partnership ministerial meeting in Sopot
  • 18 April 2010 – President dr. Danilo Turk attended the burial ceremony of the late Polish President Kaczynski and his wife in Krakow
  • 27 January 2010 – Minister for Education and Sport dr. Igor Lukšič attended the Ministerial Conference about Holocaust (65th Anniversary of the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau liberation)
  • 22–24 October 2009 – Blaž Kavčič, President of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia, attended the meeting of the Association of European Senates, Gdansk
  • 11 and 12 September 2009 – President Dr Danilo Türk visited Poland as a special guest of the Visegrad Group presidential meeting
  • 1 September 2009 – Prime Minister Pahor attended the ceremony marking the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II, Gdansk
